Video Report: Gila River Flying Horse Caught On Tape

On Tuesday morning, people were able to see a horse fly over the Gila River about 36 miles southwest of the city of Phoenix, Arizona. This horse had been stranded on a sandbar for five days. Finally, the horse was plucked off the sandbar by a heavy-duty helicopter and delivered to safe ground.

Earlier rescues were prevented because the Gila River has very fast, swift moving currents. The rider was rescued along with two others as they tried to ride in the river on Friday.

The horse was prepped by a veteriarian prior to the flight with a tranquilizer. Then the horse was placed in a harness with blinders to help prevent panic.

One the horse was flying, he never bucked, and he was quite a tranquil sight with his tail trailing in the air.
